This is a super simple project that can be used to store everyday items or use as a gift bag. Choose a medium weight quilting type cotton and grosgrain ribbon or cording.
I recommend you use a fat quarter which is a piece of fabric that measures 18′ x 22′. Then you’ll need 1 1/4 yard of a coordinating ribbon.

This is a super inexpensive project. Fat quarters run about $4.00 at a local quilting shop. I have seen them around $1.25 – $1.79 at Hobby Lobby or Walmart. If you can’t find a fat quarter you can use 1/3 to 1/2 yard of fabric yardage.
Here’s the supplies you’ll need for this project:
- 1 Fat Quarter
- 1 1/4 yard 3/8″ grosgrain ribbon or cording
- Thread
- Point Turner or Chopstick
- Safety Pin to thread the ribbon
Why not make a cute gift bag and impress your friend! Plus you can adjust the pattern and make is larger or smaller.
